Last night our kids had a visit from our neighborhood Santa and afterwards we had a fun little treat: Reindeer Cocoa.
Santa and Mrs. Claus make visits every December and it's always a fun holiday tradition. Unless you're three and then it's torturous. Poor Tate.
Last year we had Santa snacks after the visit and one year we had a themed sundae bar. This year I decided to do something a bit different.
I made reindeer hot cocoa! I love the way it turned out and it's really simple to throw together.
The most finicky part is the antler application. I used large pretzels and broke them off to look like antlers then used candy melt to stick them to the edges of the cups. I did one antler at a time and propped them up in the freezer so they'd stick quickly. Propping them up in the proper position is a bit finicky but once they're stuck you're set.
To make the reindeer faces, I used a jumbo marshmallow and stuck the edible eyes and a cinnamon candy nose on with a dab of candy melt. Unlike this photo, you need to make the reindeer face on the side of the marshmallow {see below} otherwise the marshmallow just tips and the face goes underwater. A drowning Rudolph never makes for a merry Christmas.
Fill the cup up with cocoa ...
... and pop the marshmallow reindeer face in.
There you have it: reindeer cocoa!
Isn't that cute? Let me know if you make some for your kiddos!

Now that is adorable!

ReplyDeleteLOVE!!! I have a hot cocoa date with Riley as one of our activities for our Christmas Countdown. She'd love this. Riley is also 3 and still has a hard time with Santa too. She loves him from afar, but isn't so keen on him up close.
