Trash to Treasure Book Caddy

This weekend I finished my latest trash to treasure project: a book caddy.  I made this caddy from a table I grabbed from someone's curbside trash pile.  It's one of my favorite trash to treasure projects to date!

My book caddy started out as this vintage table.  I spotted it while driving the kids to school one Monday morning and stopped to grab it on my way home.  The table was in fairly good condition with the exception of one table leg ... it looked like a new pet may have had a good chew on it.

I removed the legs and gave it a really good wash ...

... then painted it orange using DIY chalk-finish paint {I used an old paint sample I bought for fifty cents, making this a super cheap project all round!}.  I also added casters that I bought {cheaply} at ReStore so the caddy can be scooted and turned around.

The book caddy is a fun new addition to the little reading nook in our gameroom.  The kids can curl up on a cushion and read a book or play with the magnetic letter board.

The caddy turns easily on the casters so the kids can access books on every side or wheel it to another area.

I also added some fun letters to the reading spot.

I'm so happy with the way this trash to treasure book caddy turned out!  It's such a fun and unique addition to our room!
