Mini Monogrammed Butter Pats

Oh my goodness, I love these little butter pats.  I saw the idea in a recent issue of Southern Living.  You can order them but I thought it would be fun to make my own mini monogrammed butter pats.  They were so simple to make and I think they'd be adorable at a luncheon for the ladies or at Thanksgiving Dinner. Aren't they cute?

In addition to the butter, I used a tiny cookie cutter, a metal stamp {the kind used for pressing a monogram into wax on a letter}, and flour.

I sliced the cold butter into 1/4 inch pieces ...

... and cut a shape into each one.  {Keeping the butter cold is key if you want it to hold its shape and pop nicely out of the cutter.}

I dipped the metal stamp into flour, tapped it to remove any excess, and pressed it lightly into the butter, wiggling it a bit to get a good monogram.  Don't press too hard - it'll just break up the butter!

The result is a cute monogrammed butter pat.

I love them!  I'm planning on making them again with a big D for Thanksgiving Dinner.
