When I saw this post {wouldn't you love to go to a craft weekend?}, I pinned the fabric-covered wire words idea and couldn't wait to try making some.
Making wire words is a super simple project that took me less than ten minutes.
I used soldering wire but you can use any thick but pliable wire. I ripped fabric strips {about 1/4-1/2 inch wide and about three inches long} and wrapped them around the wire. Where the strips change to other colors, I just wrapped the new color tightly over the old color and over itself {you could also add a drop of hot glue ... I did that at the very end}.
Once you have your wire covered, twist it into the word or shape you want. This is such a great way to use up that fabric stash!
The wire holds its shape well and this little word looks so cute in Kennedy's room.

They would make a great gift! I think my girls would have fun making these with me.
ReplyDeleteI love this--it's super cute and actually doable! Wouldn't these be cute as a gift topper? The person's name, maybe?
