Since I knit this on a whim, there's no tutorial but it's simple, even for a beginning knitter. I knit an orange rectangle {using scrap yarn} in stocking stitch, sewed it along the short seam, and wove my yarn in and out on the top and bottom to create a drawstring. I cinched the yarn tight and squeezed my little pumpkin until it was in somewhat of a pumpkin shape.
Before I cinched the top tight, I stuffed the pumpkin with fiberfill, stuck a twig stem into the center, and tied a few ribbons around the stem.
I also wrapped some yarn around the pumpkin to give it some real pumpkin texture.
My little pumpkin is sitting next to my dyed acorns in the dining room, creating a simple fall vignette.

So sweet Randi...I love the twig, it is the perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteI haven't a clue how to knit! A friend start to teach me once but I was so confused. Anyway, life got super busy so we had to quit and we never started again. I love how your pumpkin turned out though and maybe I will be able to make one someday!
ReplyDeleteI could even knit that...so far I have only made a lot of scarves and one bunny hat...now I can add a pumpkin to it!
