One more week left in my photography class. This week's assignment was a fun one: combine all the skills we've learned and photograph a backyard grilling party! Right up my alley.
When you have five kids ...
... it's easy to make a big splash ...
... so we gathered our troops and had a food 'n' fun night in the backyard. And I had a great time shooting photos, using the angles and lighting and staging techniques we've learned in our class.
Throwing an impromptu party can be simple. I hung up a duct tape banner left over from another party ...
... gathered up some coordinating plates and napkins ...
... and wrapped duct tape around some water bottles.
We finally used our {much-loved} red cooler and it was so great ... it'll make an appearance at many upcoming backyard pool parties. The ice in it was still frozen the next morning ... and this is Texas!
I know it must seem like I grill a lot of hot dogs. Okay, I do. Five kids plus hot dogs equal some good backyard fare. We fired up the backyard grill {thanks, Sears Grilling!} and cooked some dogs.
We cooked up some s'mores too.
With Rolos. Wow, those were good!
It's really hard to eat s'mores anything when you're missing your two front teeth. But at least you look cute doing it.
After the kids ate, they hopped in the pool for some continued fun {and I brought out the zoom lens to snap some cute photos}.
See this smile? Yep, the backyard party was that fun!
