A Pinterest-Inspired Silhouette Necklace #GluenGlitter #CBias

Are your Pinterest boards full of amazing projects?

Mine are.  And I try to actually tackle a pile of them.

This silhouette necklace, pinned a year ago, was next on the project list.  I've always loved it!  I even bought the little charms months ago and stashed them away, waiting for this necklace.

I already had a lot of the things I needed for this project {it really doesn't take much} but I went to Walmart to get a few other supplies.  You can see that whole shopping trip here.

Before I went to Walmart, I downloaded the Jingit app to my husband's smartphone {yep, I'm the only person on earth who doesn't have a smartphone}.  Have you heard of Jingit?  Jingit allows you to earn money watching short product videos online and also allows you to earn money when you check out a product at certain stores.  I earned a few cents just by scanning the UPC code on a bottle of Elmer's School Glue.  Kind of fun, huh?

With craft ingredients in hand, I sat down to make my Pinterest-inspired necklace.  Let me show you what I did.

The trickiest part of making this necklace is making the mini silhouettes.  I took profile photos of my kids then did a lot of research online {looking for the least time-consuming method for cutting silhouettes}.  I ended up using Pixlr, free online photo editing software.  I'll share a little tutorial with you later this week.

I printed out the silhouettes and sat down with my other craft supplies: an X-ACTO cutting mat {that I won in a giveaway}, an X-ACTO Craft Swivel Knife {perfect for the small curves I'd be cutting}, Elmer's Krazy Glue {perhaps a bit of overkill for this project but I loved the tiny nailpolish-like applicator}, dimensional lacquer, and frame charms.

I carefully cut out each silhouette using the X-ACTO Craft Swivel Knife ...

... and then used a tiny swipe of Elmer's Krazy Glue to adhere a white background and silhouette onto each charm.

When each silhouette was attached to the charm, I covered them with dimensional lacquer and let them dry for a day.  {Unfortunately, the lacquer seeped under the paper on one of the charms but I'm pretending it just gives it a more aged, vintage look.  Wink.}

I attached those five adorable profiles to a ball chain and crossed the project off my list.  I love this necklace and love that it captured my kiddos at this moment in time.
