This Summer's Garden

We're in the middle of summer and the garden is about as good as it's going to get, at least this year.  I thought I'd share some highlights before I stop watering and everything goes downhill.  It happens to me every year.  I get excited at the beginning of the summer and I get really tired of it halfway through.  {I think that's a sign that I'm really not a gardener at heart.}

Right now in the garden, I have a blooming rose bush ...

... pots of basil {for homemade pesto} and rosemary ...

... dill that's just beginning to sprout {a late addition planted by Tate's little hands} ...

... hordes and hordes and hordes of mint ...

... a garden full of canna lilies ...

... flowering crepe myrtles ...

... and lush sweet potato plants that have taken over the top of a retaining wall ...

... and are trailing down, adding some much needed color to an old trouble spot.

What's growing in your garden?

  1. I hear you!!! I am the exact same way - I like to garden until I have to water... all. the. time. Luckily we've had a VERY wet spring! I have hoards of mint too. I'm trying to give it away to everyone ;) I did transplant some of it to a 'problem spot' that we have too... will have to see how it goes. I hope that you are having an awesome summer with your kiddos!

  2. Beautiful garden! I'm really enjoying our garden as well. I haven't had to water as we have had a lot of rain.
