Peach Basil Iced Tea

We tried a refreshing new tea this week and I wanted to share it with you.  The basil {fresh from my garden} adds a very distinct flavor but it's a great mix with the peach.  We drank the first jug in no time and I'm looking forward to making it again.

This recipe was printed in Southern Living but I adapted it a bit, decreasing the sugar and adding some straining to the process.  It would also be great without any added sugar and I think I'll try it that way next time.

Peach Basil Iced Tea

8 tea bags
1 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves
1/3 cup sugar
2 cans peach nectar

Bring 8 cups water to a boil.  Pour boiling water over tea bags and basil; cover and steep {I let it steep for a couple of hours to really let the flavors infuse}.

Remove and discard tea bags and basil.  Add sugar, stirring until dissolved.  Stir in peach nectar.  Strain into a pitcher.  Serve over ice.

  1. Mmmm! Sounds wonderful. I love the idea of adding some basil for a different flavor.
