A couple of years ago, Phil and I decided we needed to be much better about having regular date nights. With five kids and a very full calendar, we just hadn't given it top priority. We committed to having at least one date night every month. Sometimes we have more but our minimum is one. I know that doesn't seem like a lot to some people but it's a huge improvement for us and I look forward to it every month.
This month we went to Hoffbrau Steaks, a restaurant that was new to us. We went to a location that had just recently opened and we weren't the only ones who wanted to try it out. The place was packed! We sat outside and had a drink on the patio while we waited for our table.
Once we were seated, we were super hungry and the menu looked great. It has a really fun Texas twist to it ... jalapenos are used in a number of dishes and they have a Dr. Pepper barbecue sauce that also makes a number of appearances {and is delicious!}.
We ordered an appetizer that I have to replicate at home. You'll probably see our version in an upcoming blog post. Phil and I both loved it! Jalapenos stuffed with shrimp, wrapped in bacon, slathered in the specialty barbecue sauce, and grilled. I could have eaten a platter of them!
{photos were taken on a camera phone ... please excuse the poor quality}
Our main courses were also delicious. Phil had Dr. Pepper Chicken and I had Smoked Sirloin. The pepper-crusted sirloin was served almost prime rib style and was delicious. We really liked that the meals came with a house salad, fresh {yummy!} bread, and a good choice of sides.
