Does the arrival of company spur you to complete some jobs around the house? It always works for me. My brother and his family are arriving this week and a week ago I decided I needed to paint Kennedy's bathroom, the upstairs hallway, and the upstairs bathroom.
Kennedy's bathroom is all I got done. I moved it to the top of the list since my two nieces will be rooming with Kennedy and sharing her bathroom. And maybe because I've been planning on painting it for two years {since The Great Pre-Tate Summer of Painting}.
Kennedy's bathroom is small with no natural light {so excuse the photos} and it was painfully bland. White walls, white tiles, white linoleum floor {which will hopefully be replaced one of these days as well}, and white counters. {Those white counters might get a faux granite finish at some point but that'll have to wait.}
I didn't want to replace Kennedy's shower curtain or her towels so I stuck with the colors she had. I painted the walls with Glidden Sweet Baby Boy and added some purple touches {using Glidden Violet Shimmer, a free sample I got a year or so ago ... and now one of my favorite shades of purple}.
I took down the towel bars and put up hooks instead. To me, hooks means kids might actually hang their towel after the shower whereas a towel bar means the chances are small. I mounted a drawer knob {found in my stash} on a piece of wood for the hand towel ...
... and mounted hooks on a cabinet front {found at ReStore} for the bath towels.
I added a little art {inspired by this}, cut in frosted glass vinyl, to give my girl a daily reminder of how beautiful she is ...
... and hung one of Kennedy's works of art as well.
Her upcycled jewelry holder also went back on the wall after the paint job.
Really simple changes but the overall look is a huge improvement and I can relax at the thought of three girls hanging in there all week.

Very nice! I love the color. Megan
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteI love these colours together, they make it look so fresh!
ReplyDeleteIf these girls are anything like my husband (ha!) then my advice would be to sew a loop of ribbon onto the hand towel to help it hook onto that knob. I kept finding 'fallen' towels underneath my hook for so long before I caved in and sewed a loop on lol! xx
How fun to have the whole family together for Easter!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so great! hope y'all have a great time with your family :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job Randi! I love that at the end of your post you say, "now you can relax knowing the 3 girls are hanging in there all week." I wouldn't have done it to begin with and I'd still be relaxed. :) Man... I love and miss you!
