Our family room coffee table has a new tray. Kind of fun, kind of colorful, kind of eclectic. Not bad for an old cabinet door and a couple of handles, huh?
It was dirty and badly painted but I scrubbed it and sanded it down and it was good to go.
I wanted a tiny bit of color to peek through my main color so I spray painted the edges with bright yellow, then rubbed them over with a wax candle.
The next coat, a bright turquoise blue, was sprayed on ...
... and lightly sanded over the waxed areas to reveal some yellow. Hmmm, nice fuzzy picture, huh? At least the patio's in focus {smile}.
I added bright orange industrial handles {also found in Canton} ... they were bought specifically for this tray and I love them. The contrast with the blue is vivid and fun.
I thought Phil might balk at this project but he actually likes it. He may be starting to see the beauty in repurposed junk.

I'm still working on getting the baptismal gown into the shadow box! I've been working on it for 1/2 a year. Maybe you could pin that post for me.
ReplyDeleteMy point is... where do you find the time for all of this fun crafting? You are amazing!
What a cute tray. I love the color. I found your blog on the Sunday blog hop and am a new follower.
