If you've read past posts on this blog, you know that I love to find something for nothing. Especially when that something is awesome.
Yesterday, I was driving through my neighborhood after dropping the kids at school and I spotted a dollhouse bookshelf sitting at the curb next to garbage cans. Kids, waiting for the bus, were standing right next to it so I kept driving.
I drove to my parents' house and talked my dad into going with me to snag the shelf. {My initial idea was that my Dad should just go get it, saving me the embarrassment of dragging something from the trash. He had other ideas.}
I'm so glad we went back to get it! The shelf is in impeccable condition. The few marks it had came right off with a magic eraser and the shelf looks like it's brand new.
It appears to be the Circo brand dollhouse shelf that was selling at Target for $80. It's solid and adorable.
My girls just love it and it looks so cute in their room. I've deemed it my best dumpster diving experience to date. It makes me want to bust out and sing Oscar the Grouch's song, "I loooove trash".

You totally crack me up! It is a beautiful item. Good going! What does your dad get out of this?
ReplyDeleteOh, my! I love it! Great find!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! I can just picture you slowly creepin' down the neighborhood streets. I'm sure people just see you from inside their homes wondering if you'll stop to take a look at their junk. I will say, though, that you did indeed score big! That dollhouse is so cute!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! Awesome find!
ReplyDeletewhat a deal !!!
ReplyDeleteI love a good deal !
We have the exact shelf in our playroom -- snagged for $7 at a thrift store. It's the perfect interior height for Barbies (if you ever let your girls play with them). If you go that route, I have furniture to share.
ReplyDeleteYou did this in the daylight?? Just kidding, good score.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is absolutely gorgeous and being free makes it even more desirable. I love free things from the rubbish but I never find anything. Well a couple of weeks ago I scored on a gorgeous vintage rocking bed for a doll. I didn't really need it as my daughter has a Baby Born version purchased at a flea market, but I couldn't have left it there on the pavement, and luckily it was only the house next to ours, so almost no embarrassment :-)
ReplyDeleteTotally awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy sister has one exactly like it! Its adorable:)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe someone threw that away?! How wasteful! Second of all: What a COOL dad you have!!! I could see mine doing the dirty work for me too...why is it we're so embarrassed to dig through trash but then are so excited to post that we dug through trash?? Haha! I'm the EXACT same way!! Good score, love it!
