Every Christmas I make biscuits for the family dogs {see past years here, here, here, and here}. This year was a bit melancholy since it's the first Christmas I don't have a dog but I didn't want to break tradition. All those little mutts will be getting bone and fire hydrant shaped biscuits.
This year I followed the recipe found here but made a couple of changes. Instead of using sea salt, I used garlic salt {the dogs I know seem to like garlic} and I used regular all-purpose flour. I know regular flour isn't as good for a dog's digestion but honestly, the dogs I know seem to tolerate it just fine. I think the pumpkin in these biscuits will be a big hit with the canines.
I wrapped the bags with some dog-bone ribbon I found at The Container Store and put them away until Christmas morning.

I'm so sorry you don't get to share your Christmas with a sweet dog this year. For the past 17 years, of my 19 years, we have shared our Christmas with our beloved dog. We have since added a few more, and each year they get spoiled beyond measure! Following your lead, I will try to make them some treats! :) The humans get homemade goodies, why can't the dogs?!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! :)
Yep...Frodo is getting a new bed this year from Santa Dawg. We just put hardwood down a few weeks ago and he's finding it very cold. We thought he needed something to lay on, especially now that winter is upon us. He has his own stocking too :)
