Dining Al Fresco

To celebrate our anniversary, we decided to do something a bit different this year.  Rather than eat at a restaurant, I set a table under a tree in our backyard, Phil ordered steak and lobster from a local restaurant, and we dined al fresco.

I kept the table very simple with only a cloth and a row of candles.  The waterfall was running in the pool next to us and cicadas were humming in the trees.  A breeze kept the temperature comfortable {this is Texas, after all, and the thermometer had registered almost a hundred degrees during the day}.

Mason jars filled with candles hung from the tree overhead ...

... and looked so beautiful at dusk.

We talked and drank wine and had one of the best dates I can remember.

It was the perfect way to celebrate sixteen years.

  16. How lovely! Our 27th is this week and we were JUST discussing how we have no time to do anything so we're going to postpone it for a few weeks. I love your idea -- sounds like a great evening! Can you share how you made the mason jar chandelier? Are they all just hanging individually at different angles or all wired together?

  21. I'd like to see it with colored sand or fishtank gravel in it tp level out the candles so they don't spill.
