Mixed Media Skater

I Am Momma-Hear Me Roar is hosting a Let's Hear It For the Boys contest.  The rules were simple: create a top for a boy.  The creations are all being linked up today and I can't wait to see all of the amazing ideas.

I liked the idea of creating a shirt that a boy would love and I decided to make something that Luke would enjoy.  He's always thought skateboarding was pretty cool so I downloaded a skater image from the Silhouette website and used the new interfacing to cut the shape then stitched it to a store-bought shirt {chosen by Luke}.  I stitched the shape in blue thread to contrast with the orange image and coordinate with the shirt.

The shirt needed a little something else so I used white heat transfer material {and my trusty Silhouette} to add "skate" to the sleeve.  I really love this final touch and it even got a vote of approval from my thirteen year old.

Luke tried the shirt on and felt compelled to do a few tricks on his Diego skateboard {not to be confused with a scooter}.

That kid just makes me laugh.  I have a feeling this shirt will end up being one of Luke's favorites.
