A Cabinet Door Chalk Board

This might be one of my favorite projects to date.  I love the way it turned out.  I was inspired by the menu board in this post and adapted it a bit for Kennedy's room.

An old $1 cabinet door from ReStore, some leftover chalkboard paint, and green paint left over from this project ...

... and Kennedy has a super cute new chalkboard next to her {vintage} desk.  She loves it.

The chalk holder {a $1 rusted drawer pull from Canton} is my favorite touch.

I love Luke's hooks and now this chalkboard ... and I'm pondering all the other things I can make with salvaged cabinet doors.  Any great links you can share?

  3. I have wondered how the chalkboard paint holds up. Does it get really smeary after a while if you write/erase/write/erase?

  4. I don't have any links, but I've seen this with white board paint as well. Subway art maybe? Around here I know I would probably use it as a chore chart, lol. :)

  11. This is the post that got me to check out this blog, and I'm even more interested now that I see you shop at Habitat Restore; one of these opened up in our city last year. (Santa Rosa, CA.) Ours also had a $1 cabinet door sale not too long ago. I bought a couple of really long, skinny pieces that I'm using for shelving. I love that place!

  18. It is so cute! Yes.. love the chalk holder. Did you glue it on or screw it on?

I found you from the Chalk Talk link party.
You can also use the chalkboard paint on the inside of one of you kitchen cabinet doors for a memo board for yourself.
I'd love for you to link this up to my Organizing Mission link party! It is a great organizational tool.
