Red, White and Blue

I love the Fourth of July. I know that's probably strange since I'm still a passport-carrying Canadian but I appreciate the patriotism that Americans have and the big celebration of their independence.
This morning the kids got decked out in red, white and blue ... Elijah is so clearly missing from these photos and it makes me sad. Kennedy was sporting the Cut and Stitch Star Shirt from FamilyFun (we improvised it slightly, using scrap fabric rather than cutting another shirt, and sewing it on the machine rather than by hand). Lila's dress was copied from Trey and Lucy ... a super simple dress made from two bandanas. See her frown in the first photo? She wasn't sure she liked the dress. Fortunately she got over that.

We boycotted the Flower Mound parade due to expected hundred-degree temperatures and took part in an indoor (read air-conditioned) parade held in a local mall. Lots of friends were also there and we had a great time ... and never broke a sweat. The twins rode their decorated trikes and all the kids received flags and goodie bags filled with cookies, coupons, and trinkets.

It was a fun start to a fun day.

  2. The mall parade idea is genious!

I love that cute bandana dress. Isn't it funny that little girls obtain their fashion sense at such a young age?

  4. They are adorable. Lila's dress would fit in nicely at the stampede.
