Update: You can watch a video demo here to see how to make these snowmen!
The day arrived with a cold, wintry forecast ... perfect for a Hot Cocoa Party with friends. I put out bowls of mini muffins and oranges, made a big pot of Colorado Cocoa, and laid out self-serve toppings for the cocoa: marshmallow snowmen, whip cream, vanilla sipping straws, crushed peppermint candies, and snowflake-shaped marshmallows.

The kids got all sugared up and spent the morning playing and having fun while I visited with a friend and broke up toddler fights. A morning well spent.

Those are way too cute! You are amazing! I don't know where you come up with this stuff- actually I know that, but how you find the time!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea. What did you use for the scarves on the marshmallow snowmen?
ReplyDeleteThe scarves are made from fruit roll-ups.

ReplyDeleteI'm continually amazed at how you turn an "ordinary" playdate into an extraordinary theme party!! Watch out, Martha... Randi meets you today, tomorrow - she's got your job!
ReplyDeleteLove the party! Can I be your apprentice?
ReplyDeleteWhere do those cute snowflake marshmallows come from?
ReplyDeleteThose were carried at Target one year. I hope they bring them back ... they're so cute!
DeleteI found you on Pintrest... wondering where you got the vanilla sipping straws? I couldn't find them via the link above. I LOVE your idea!!
ReplyDeleteThe sipping straws are a seasonal item from Harry & David.
DeleteI love all your ideas.I want to do this activity with my second grade class. How did you make the snowmen? Diedra jcothoto@aol.com
ReplyDeletecan you please send me how you made the snowmen? I think I got it but im not 100% sure about the scarves and what did u use to make the faces and buttons. Please email me and rebeccazillinger@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThe marshmallows are stuck onto a skewer. The hats are Hershey's Kisses. The faces are made with food coloring dabbed on with a toothpick, and the scarves are fruit roll-ups.
DeleteThe scarves look like fruit rollups. Not sure what she used for the snowman's buttons.
ReplyDeletedecorator icing coloring and a toothpick, my best guess - for the buttons and face
ReplyDeleteYep - you're right!
DeleteHow did you stick the kisses on top?
ReplyDeleteThey're stuck on with a bit of candy melt.
